Women’s Ice Hockey Roar Through Bengals


OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women’s Ice Hockey team continued their great offensive connection. They defeat NEWHL conference foe Buffalo State by a score of 8-1. Oswego had six different goal-scorers, attributing to their offensive depth. 


  • Final Score:   Oswego 8, Buffalo State 1
  • Location:      Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall
  • Records:   Oswego 3-0-0 (NEWHL 1-0), Buffalo State 0-3-0 (NEWHL 0-1)


  • Despite outshooting the Bengals in the first period by a margin of 20-1 they found themselves down 1-0 at the first horn.
  • The Bengals first goal was scored with 1:58 remaining in the first.
  • Oswego came out with relentless pressure in the second period.
  • Mack Hull added her first goal as an Oswego Laker, the goal was assisted by Megan Teachout and Chyne Kennedy.
  • Just under a minute and thirty seconds later, Lakers struck again.
  • Kyleigh Grugin scored off of a rebound from Emily Gustafson to give their team the lead. This proved to be the game-winner.
  • Morgan Shines added a third goal on the board just over halfway in the second period. Taylor Hudon assisted the Lakers third tally.
  • Oswego outshot the Bengals 19-4 in the second period.
  • Rachel Corbett kept the squad rolling with a goal just 00:49 into the third stanza.
  • Corbett’s first goal as a Laker was assisted by Avery Webster and Teachout.
  • In 2021-22 fashion, Oswego kept the offensive grind going after their fourth goal.
  • The green and gold added their fifth just under two minutes later.
  • This goal was scored by Grugin (2) and assisted by Captain Philomena Teggart.
  • Again just over two minutes later, Sophia Kyrkostas added her first goal as a Laker at 10:52 of the third.
  • Their seventh goal was assisted by Teachout (3) and Webster (2).
  • Mia Conboy finished the offensive onslaught for the Lakers when the puck took a weird bounce off of the boards, giving her a wide open look on the top of the crease for the tap in.
  • Oswego continued their dominance in the faceoff circle, handling the Bengals 46-22.


The Lakers will continue their NEWHL opening weekend with the Bears of Potsdam tomorrow at 3:00P.M. in the Deborah F. Stanley Arena and Convocation Hall.
