MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women’s Hockey team defeated Morrisville State in the first game of a back-to-back matchup. Ashlyn McGrath scored twice, and the Lakers limited Morrisville State’s power play opportunities to improve their overall record to 2-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period was scoreless, with the Lakers going 0 for 3 on power play opportunities, going into the second period with 1:47 remaining on their third power play.
Lexi Levy recorded 6 saves in the first period, and the Lakers outshot Morrisville 21-10.
After an unsuccessful power play to begin the second period, Ashlyn McGrath continued her good start to the season and opened the scoring with a goal 2 minutes in, her third of the year.
The Lakers continued to pressure and attack the net, and again outshot Morrisville in the period 25-13.
Mia Conboy extended Oswego State’s lead at around the six minute mark with her first goal of the season.
The Lakers killed two penalties in the middle portion of the second period. Continuing their penalty kill success.
With less than 2 minutes remaining in the period, Morrisville scored, cutting the lead to 1.
Levy had 7 more saves in the second period, and the Lakers entered the third leading by a score of 2-1.
In the third period, Ashlyn Mcgrath scored yet again for the Lakers at around the 15 minute mark.
Mack Hull scored with less than a minute remaining in the game to secure a 4-1 victory for the Lakers.
For the game, the Lakers outshot Morrisville 76-31.
Lexi Levy ended the game with 18 saves. Arielle Haas, Amanda Zenstein and Rheya Zemlak each registered an assist.
WHAT’S NEXT
The women will return home to Oswego on Saturday, November 12th for a rematch against the Mustangs at 3:00 PM. The Lakers will look to continue their success and nab back-to-back wins over Morrisville State. The Lakers will hold their annual Military Appreciation game tomorrow to support our troops.
