Women’s Ice Hockey Blanked By Bulldogs

OSWEGO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Women’s  Hockey team was defeated by the Adrian Bulldogs for the second consecutive matchup. Oswego once again was unable to capitalize on their power plays, going 0 for 6 on the evening.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego State 0 (0-2, 0-0 NEWHL), Adrian 5 (2-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian received a power play shortly into the first period of play. The Bulldogs were able to capitalize, scoring their first goal of the evening just under 3 minutes into the contest. Karmen Anderson scored the goal with the assist from Kaleigh Cadorette.

The Lakers would receive a power play just over 6 minutes into play. Oswego was unable to capitalize on the power play.

The Bulldogs would score again later into the first period. The goal came in just over 15 minutes into play, giving Adrian the 2-0 lead. 

Joanna Hiebert had 9 saves in the first period of play.

Oswego would be on a power play going into the second period of play. The Lakers would not score on the power play, again.

The Lakers would allow their third goal of the evening while having a power play. 

Adrian would receive another power play 15 minutes into the second period, which led to their fourth goal of the evening.

Hiebert would record 4 more saves in the second period. 

The third period would be Oswegos most complete period they played. 

The Bulldogs would only score 1 goal in the final period of play, which came in just under 11 minutes into the period. 

The Lakers were bested on the stat sheet, with Adrian getting more shots off on the Lakers yet again. Adrian had 47 shots compared to 34 by the Lakers. 

The Bulldogs scored on 3 of their 7 power plays, while the Lakers went 0-6.

Joanna Hiebert finished with 19 saves on the evening, 

WHAT’S NEXT

The women will travel to Potsdam on Friday, November 4th for a conference matchup against the Bears. The Lakers look to spoil Potsdam’s season opener and get their first win of the season.
