CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Colgate senior Matt Verboon was named ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Verboon recorded three points Saturday with a goal and two assists, helping the Raiders to a 5-3 win at Merrimack. It was the second three-point and fourth multi-assist performance of the senior’s career. He also logged two blocked shots in the victory.
Verboon picked up an assist on Colgate’s second goal of the game in the second period and its third goal in the third.
The Geneva, Switzerland native scored with six and a half minutes remaining in the game. After the Warriors pulled their goalie, Verboon launched a shot from the Raiders’ defensive zone that found its way into the goal, pushing Colgate’s lead to four at 5-1.
Verboon is the first Raider player this season to earn a weekly honor from the conference. It is also the second of his career after being named Third Star of the Week during the 2020-21 season.
Colgate returns home this weekend to take on Vermont. Puck drop from the Class of 1965 Arena is 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.
