The Utica University Men’s Hockey Team enjoyed another successful season in 2022-23, rising all the way to the number one ranking in the USCHO poll during the regular season. They went undefeated in the UCHC, winning the regular season crown and the tournament championship. The Pioneers were upset in their first game of the NCAA Tournament by the University of New England in what would have to be considered one of the season’s most exciting games not only for the teams involved but also in all of Division III hockey.
The 2022-23 Pioneers team was a veteran-heavy squad, with a total of eleven players either graduating, transferring, or moving on to professional hockey after their college season ended. Replacing the likes of Connor Fedorek, Jaxon Rutkowski, Justin Allen, Lucas Herrmann, Mic Curran, Regen Cavanagh, Dante Zapata, Brandon Osmundson, Remy Parker, Buster Larsson, and John Moncovich won’t be easy, but nonetheless, a new season will be here sooner rather than later.

With preparations underway for the 2023-24 season, Utica Head Coach Gary Heenan, Assistant Coach Nick Therrien, and the rest of the staff have been hard at work bringing in the next generation of Pioneers. They have already begun bringing in players that hope to be in the lineup when the new season begins in October. Below is a look at the five players that have already committed to play their college hockey in navy blue and orange.
