The Utica Pioneers Men’s Hockey Team had a very successful 2022-23 season, based in large part on having a veteran-heavy group. On Wednesday, it was announced defenseman Justin Allen and forward Regen Cavanagh had signed with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL (for more on those signings, click here: Pair of Utica Pioneers to Make Professional Hockey Debut). Later in the afternoon, announced ECHL signing from the Pioneers was declared as senior defenseman Connor Fedorek is joining the Kalamazoo Wings.

In case you’re wondering the Norfolk Admirals and Kalamazoo Wings will not play each other again for the rest of the season.

The twenty-three-year-old Fedorek played with the Pioneers this season after spending the previous three with the Division I Ferris St. Bulldogs. At Ferris St., he totaled one goal and seven assists for eight points. In twenty-nine games for Utica, Fedorek registered four goals and twenty-one assists for twenty-five points and was a +41. In the UCHC/NCAA playoffs, he posted four assists and eleven shots in four games played.

The Kalamazoo Wings are in sixth place in the Central Division of the ECHL. Their next game is on Friday, March 24th at the Wheeling Nailers.
