Dante Zapata, the Captain of the Utica Pioneers Men’s Hockey Team has become a professional, as he has signed with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL the team announced on Thursday.
Zapata’s first season with the Pioneers was 2019-20, and he would go on to have a standout four-season career in Utica. The Huntington Beach, CA native registered a total of forty-four goals and seventy-three assists over his collegiate career, and has served as Captain of the Pioneers for the past two seasons. This season Zapata was named the UCHC Player of the Week for the week ending January 28th, was named Second Team All-UCHC and earned the MVP of the UCHC Tournament.

The Tulsa Oilers are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, and the AHL’s San Diego Gulls.
