For the second time in under two weeks, the Utica Comets (2-3-0-0, 4 pts, seventh place in the North Division) will face the Providence Bruins (5-1-1-1, 12 pts, third place in the Atlantic Division). The first matchup was in Providence on October 22nd, a game which the Bruins won by a score of 2-1. Wednesday night’s contest will be played at the Adirondack Bank Center, and it will be the second of six meetings between the two clubs during the regular season. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm EDT.

While they are still trying to find some consistency on offense, the Comets have been fantastic on the defensive side of their game. Through their first five games played, they have only given up an average of 2.2 goals per game. A major reason for this is goaltenders Akira Schmid and Nico Daws have maintained the form that made them one of the best goaltending tandems in the American Hockey League last season. Utica lost to the Toronto Marlies by a score of 2-1 in their last game played.

The Bruins are off to a great start this season, as they have won five of their first eight games. The defense has been a big strength for this team thus far this season, as through those first eight games they are giving up on average only 2.38 goals per game. Providence lost their last game to the Springfield Thunderbirds by a score of 3-2 in the shootout.
