The Utica Comets (5-6-1-1 overall, 12 pts, 7th in the North Division) are making their farthest road trip of the regular season when they visit the state of North Carolina for a two-game set against the Charlotte Checkers (10-5-1-1, 22 pts, 4th in the Atlantic Division). game one is on Friday afternoon starting at 4 pm EST, and game two will be on Saturday evening at 6 pm. The Checkers are the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Florida Panthers.

The Comets enter the weekend set coming off of a win at home against the Belleville Senators. It was a big step towards making up ground in the North Division standings, as they look to climb out of the cellar of the division. It should be noted, the Comets have played the fewest amount of games of any team in the American Hockey League.
