Syracuse came out on top in a crazy back and forth battle againt PAL over the weekend. Jeremy Gabriele and Donald Borgula scored goals in the first period which ended in a 2-2 tie. The Stars added four goals in the second from Buster Larsson, Griffen Sanom, Gregory McGunigle and Seth Benson. The period ended with Syracuse ahead 6-4. McGungile scored another in the third before PAL tied the game at 7-7 with a little over 4:30 left to play. Dylan Rallis scored the game-winner 30 seconds later to put Syracuse ahead 8-7. David Otter held down the crease the rest of the way finishing the game with 35 saves.
Sunday, February 3rd
Syracuse Stars (18-15-2) – 6
P.A.L. Junior Islanders (11-23-4) – 3
Syracuse opened the scoring only 23 seconds into the game when newcomer Seth Benson fired home his fourth of the season. Benson came over to Syracuse from the New Jersey Rockets only four games ago.
Dominik Bogdziul increased the lead to 2-0 at 5:02, but PAL responded with two goals of their own ending the first period in an all too familiar 2-2 tie. Benson’s second of the game was the only goal of the second period and put the Stars up 3-2 with 20 minutes left to play. P.A.L struck first in the third, but Trevor Bollinger, Larsson, and Rallis all netted goals to finish out the game. Recent Lake Forest commit Nick Wiencek made 30 saves in net.
The NCDC team has two home games this weekend against the Boston Bandits. Both games are being played at the New Hartford Recreation Center and will being at 8:00pm Saturday and 1:00pm Sunday.
The Premier team had a weekend off, but will be on the ice in Rochester to take on the Monarchs Wednesday afternoon.
