Teachout and Hiebert Earn First Week NEWHL Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Oswego sophomore Joanna Hiebert (Highland, MI/Meijer) has been selected the Northeast Women’s Hockey League’s first Goalie of the Week for 2021-22.

The honor is for games contested from Friday, Oct. 29, through Sunday, Oct. 31, and was announced by the NEWHL on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Hiebert recorded 31 saves in a 2-1 win at Adrian on Oct. 30 to help Oswego start the season 2-0. The sophomore notched a .969 save percentage on the afternoon as the Lakers defeated a power Bulldog squad that posted a 20-0-1 record in 2019-20.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Oswego sophomore forward Megan Teachout (Auburn, NY) has been named the Northeast Women’s Hockey League’s Player of the Week.

The honor is for games contested from Friday, Oct. 29, through Sunday, Oct. 31, and was announced by the NEWHL on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Teachout scored three goals, including the game-winners in both contests, as Oswego defeated both Adrian and Trine by matching 2-1 scores in road games in Michigan and Indiana over the weekend.

 

The Lakers defeated an Adrian squad that had posted a 20-0-1 record in 2019-20 on Oct. 29 before traveling from Michigan to Indiana where they beat Trine by a goal.

Through the support ofd Oswego Health, admission into Oswego State Women’s Ice Hockey regular season games is free of charge for the 2021-22 season.
