The Syracuse Orange Women’s Hockey Team (5-7-1 overall, 4-0-0 CHA) is back on track. They are undefeated in their last five games including victories in the last four and look to be putting a rough start to the season in the rearview mirror. This weekend, that undefeated streak will be put to the test, as they travel to New Jersey to take on the fifteenth-ranked Princeton Tigers (1-3-0 overall, 1-3-0 ECAC) in a two-game set on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
One of the driving factors in the resurgence of the Orange is their excellence on special teams. According to https://cuse.com, they are tied for first in the nation in shorthanded goals scored (three), tied for fifth in the nation in power-play goals (nine), they are tenth in the nation in power-play percentage, and fourteenth on the penalty kill. Individually, Lauren Bellefontaine is tenth in the country in game-winning goals (two), and Tatum White is seventeenth in the nation in faceoff wins (114).
