HAMILTON – It is crunch time for The Colgate Women’s Ice Hockey Team as they look to punch their ticket in the ECAC Championship game. The Raiders will be traveling to New Haven, Conn. for a rematch of last year’s semifinal matchup against the No. 8 ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Colgate looks to win their third straight ECAC Hockey Championship.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
The Raiders are no strangers to adversity. After losing the first game of the ECAC Quarterfinals to Princeton, Colgate fought back and won its next two games including a 2-1 victory in game 3 to slide past the Tigers on Sunday, Feb. 26. Goals were scored by Neena Brick and Kristýna Kaltounková. Quinnipiac defeated No. 6 St. Lawrence in three games to advance to their season.
THE MATCHUP
The two teams have faced off 47 times in program history. The Raiders lead the head-to-head series 24-18-5. Despite dropping the last two contests to the Bobcats, Colgate knocked off Quinnipiac 3-2 in the ECAC semifinals last year.
STAR-STUDDED DUO UP TOP
The duo of forwards Danielle Serdachny and Kaltounková have been a huge reason for Colgate being fourth in the country in goals (149), and third in team points (411). Serdachny leads the nation with 43 assists on the season, including both assists in Sunday’s win over Princeton. She is the all-time points leader in program history. Kaltonková is tied for eighth in the country in goals this season with 23, featuring the game-winner over Princeton to get here.
BRICK WALLS IN FRONT OF THE NET
The tandem of Hannah Murphy and Kayle Osborne has been tremendous this year for Colgate. The Raiders are tied for third in the country in shutouts this season with 10. Murphy has five, and Osborne has four. The duo has been like a 1A-1B type connection. Combined the duo between the pipes has a save percentage of over .920 percent and over 370 saves each. They will be looked upon as the Raiders continue their strong championship run.
SATURDAY POTENTIAL
The winner of this matchup will move on to the championship game, where they will face off against the No. 2 Yale vs No. 9 Clarkson matchup winner. That game would be scheduled for Sunday, March 4 at 4 p.m.
