The Utica College women’s team fell 7-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. The Mammoths jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead before the ten minute mark of the first period. The lead was increased to 5-0 following a pair of power-play goals five minutes apart in the second period. Another goal at 13:20 gave the Mammoths a 6-0 lead heading into the third period. The Pioneers only managed a total of 7 shots through the first 40 minutes.
Amherst scored again at the 11:39 mark to move ahead 7-0. The Pioneers avoided being shutout when freshman Erica Sloan netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season at 12:29 of the period. Holly Silva and Georgiana Santullo assisted on the power-play goal. Savannah Gutierrez finished with a career-high 46 saves in the loss.
Utica’s Sunday afternoon home game versus Castelon was postponed due to wint storm Ezekiel. That game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00pm.
