Pair of Raiders Garner Monthly Honors – Colgate University Athletics

HAMILTON – Colgate women’s ice hockey forward Elyssa Biedermand and Defender Sydney Bard were named to ECAC Monthly Honors for the month of January, announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon. 

Freshmen forward Biderman was awarded back-to-back Rookie of the Month honors after winning for December. Biederman tallied six goals and nine assists for 15 points throughout the month of January. 

The Franklin, Mich. native was recently named to the Hockey Commissioners Association Rookie of the Year “Watch List” as she’s scored 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points through 30 games. 

Biederman has won several awards throughout the season, including ECAC Rookie of the Week four separate times, and was named HCA Rookie of the Month. 

Senior defender Bard won her second Defender of the Month honor, winning earlier this season for her performance in the month of October Bard netted one goal and 11 assists, including three multiple-point games, as she averaged 1.10 points per game, the most points per game for a defenseman on the team.

The New Hartford, N.Y. native blocked nine shots for the Raiders helping Colgate record a 1.55 goals against average for the month of January. Bard currently has a plus/minus of +23, tying her for fourth place overall on the team. 

The Raiders are back in action at home this Friday, with an exciting match-up versus No. 2 Yale. Colgate return Saturday, for senior night against Brown. Both games will be played at 3 pm.
