The Orange travel to Mercyhurst for their final regular season road games this weekend. Syracuse will then close out the 2022-23 slate with home series against Penn State and Mercyhurst and one game against Stonehill (Senior Day). Syracuse (9-17-1, 6-4, CHA) and the Lakers (13-3-0, 5-3) will play at 1 pm on Saturday and at 1 pm on Sunday in the Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa. The games will be streamed on FloHockey.com.
Graduate student Lauren Bellefontaine and senior Mae Batherson are pacing the Orange offense in the second half of the season. Bellefontaine, the newest member of Syracuse’s 100 Point Club, has score at least one point in each of the six games in January. She has 68 career assists, which is four shy of Syracuse’s career assist record (Stephanie Grossi, 62, 2014-18). Batherson, who recently became the seventh Orange defenseman to tally 50 points, has been on the score sheet in four of the six games. She ranks sixth on Syracuse’s defensive record lists for points, goals and assists.
Junior Hannah Johnson has a team-leading 57 blocks this season, which ranks first in the CHA. The defenseman is 11th on Syracuse’s career blocks record list with 118. Bellefontaine is third on that record list (176) and Batherson is 10th (120).
The Orange will host Penn State on February 3rd and 4th and Mercyhurst on Feb 10th and 11th, before Senior Day against Stonehill on Feb. 18th. All home games are played at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
