The second period was all Williams, scoring a power-play goal and even strength goal to go up 2-1 with a period remaining.

Hamilton was able to tie things up on the power-play 1:42 into the third. Jon Beniers scored assisted by Sterling Bray. About ten minutes later, Nick Ursitti found Joey Moore in front who roofed one putting Hamilton ahead 2-1 with under 9 minutes to play. However, with 1:20 left Williams was able to tie the game and force overtime. It was there that Brochu scored his second of the game, assisted by Allen, to advance the Continentals to championship weekend. The goal was scored 9:11 into the extra period. Anthony Tirabassi played great in net, turning aside 47 out of 50 Williams shots.

Hamilton will play nationally ranked #11 Trinity (1st in the NESCAC) in the second semi-final Saturday at 4:30pm in Hartford, Connecticut. If the Continentals win they will play Sunday at 2:00pm in the championship. Both games versus Trinity have been ties this season. The two played to a 2-2 draw on November 30th and a 3-3 tie on January 25th

Sunday, February 24th

UCHC Semifinals (Best 2-of-3)

#14 Utica 19-6-2 (15-3-1, UCHC) – 3 (OT)
Nazareth 12-9-7 (9-6-5, UCHC) – 2

After falling behind 2-0, Gregg Burmaster scored a power-play goal at 18:52 of the second assisted by Tyler Pietrowski and Tyler Dill that pulled UC within one with a period left to play. Daniel Fritz tied the game up at 6:29 of the third assisted by Burmaster and Shawn Lynch.

As regulation drew to an end the game remained tied 2-2. At that point the game moved to a 5-minute sudden death overtime. After winning Friday night, Utica had to either win or tie to guarantee a spot in the UCHC finals. That meant Nazareth needed to win the game to force the third (mini)game.

Nazareth pulled their goalie in overtime in an attempt to sneak one past Baggetta for the win, but the Pioneers had other ideas. Fritz scored his second of the game into the empty net giving Utica the 3-2 win. Baggetta finished with 31 saves.

Utica will host Manhattanville College in another best-of-three series this weekend in hopes of securing the UCHC regular season championship as well as an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The puck drops at 7:00pm Saturday and 2:00pm Sunday. Utica has beaten Manhattanville 5-1 and 6-2 earlier this season.
