Potsdam (1-9-1, 1-6-1 SUNYAC) – 2
Morrisville (6-4-0, 5-2-0, SUNYAC) – 3 (OT)

Morrisville continued their shocking start to the season with a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against SUNY Potsdam Friday evening at the Iceplex.

Jestin Somero opened the scoring at 16:14 of the first period while his team was on the power-play. Nick DeVito and James Boisvert assisted on the opening tally.

Potsdam took a 2-1 lead following goals that came five minutes apart in the second period. Eric Melso was able to tie the game on a wrap around midway through the third period. Somero picked up an assist on the tying goal.

Both teams battled back and forth in the extra period, but it was cross-checking penalty to Potsdam that ended up being the difference maker. The Potsdam goaltender turned aside two Mustangs chances, but a shot from the blue line of the stick of Austin Johnson was laying in the crease before senior Ryan Bochert tapped it home for the win.

In goal for the Mustangs was Jared Young who continued his excellent season making 45 saves, including 21 in the second period alone.
