Men’s hockey takes on Colby in NESCAC semifinals this Saturday


The Hamilton College Continentals travel to Waterville, Maine, for a 2022 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men’s Hockey Championship semifinal against the Colby College Mules at Colby’s Jack Kelley Rink on Saturday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m.

The winner advances to the final, which is also at Colby, on Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. Saturday’s earlier semifinal is between No. 3 seed Williams College and No. 2 seed Trinity College.

The Continentals have an overall record of 11-9-1 and are the No. 5 seed for this event with a 9-8-1 conference mark. Hamilton edged Wesleyan University 3-2 in a quarterfinal at Wesleyan on February 27. The Continentals, who are led by all-NESCAC team selections Nick Rutigliano ’22 (first team), Jordi Jefferson ’22 (second team) and Grisha Gotovets ’25 (second team), are going for their second conference championship final appearance.

The nationally ranked No. 14 Mules are 16-5-2 overall and are the No. 1 seed for the championship with a 12-4-2 NESCAC record. Colby and Hamilton split their season series with the Continentals prevailing 3-1 at Russell Sage Rink on January 7, and the Mules outlasting Hamilton 3-2 in overtime at home on February 5.
