UTICA, NY- The Utica College men’s hockey team remained at No. 3 in the latest installment of the DCU/USCHO.com national poll, released Monday.
Adrian College took over the top spot for the first time this season. The Bulldogs are currently 10-1 on the year with their only loss coming to the Pioneers the first weekend of the season. Geneseo drops to No. 2 after it suffered its first loss of the season Saturday to Elmira College. Utica remains in third with a 9-2 overall record. Its only losses have come to Adrian and Geneseo. Augsburg College (9-1) and Hobart College (8-2-1) are fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Pioneers boast the second-best scoring offense in the country, averaging 5.45 goals per game. The Pioneers’ defense meanwhile ranks third nationally allowing just 1.55 goals per game. Senior Sean Dickson (San Francisco, CA/Hampton Roads Whalers (USPHL-Premier)) is second in the country with a 1.15 goals against average, while junior John Moncovich (Wilmington, NC/Hampton Roads Whalers (USPHL)) is fourth in goals per game (.91).
The Pioneers (9-2, 7-0 UCHC) have a month off before hosting Curry College for a non-conference match up on Jan. 8.
