Lakers Sweep SUNYAC Weekend, Defeats Brockport 4-1

OSWEGO, N.Y.  –  The Oswego State Men’s Hockey team returned home this evening to face the Brockport Golden Eagles. The Lakers took the lead early on into the contest and the Golden Eagles were not able to find much success against the Laker defense. Oswego has won their last six games. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: #8 Oswego State 4 (6-1, 5-0 SUNYAC), Brockport 1 (3-4, 2-3 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Thomas Rocco would get the Lakers on the board early, scoring only 58 seconds into the first period. Rocco would be assisted by Ryan Bunka and Troy Robilard.

The Lakers received 2 power plays in the first period, yet they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. 

Oswego dominated the faceoffs in the first period, winning 14 of the 15 faceoffs. Cal Schell only had three saves in the period, as the Laker defense only allowed Brockport to get those three shots off.

The Lakers were able to put up 18 shots on goal in the period, while having 27 total shots.

The Golden Eagles went into the second period having a power play. Oswego was able to hold off Brockport and return to full strength. 

Alex DiCarlo would score the Lakers second goal of the night 7 minutes into the second period. DiCarlo would be assisted by Jackson Arcan.

The Golden Eagles would respond with a goal of their own just over a minute later, making the score 2-1 Oswego.

The game would remain scoreless for the rest of the second period. Oswego would go into the third period with 1:51 remaining on a power play. Cal Schell recorded 6 more saves in the period. 

The Lakers would not be able to score on their power play yet again. However, Connor Sleeth would score the third goal for the Lakers 8 minutes into the third period. Sleeth would be assisted by Thomas Rocco and Ryan Dickinson.

Ben Addison would score the final goal for the Lakers just over halfway through the period, giving Oswego a 4-1 lead. Addison would be assisted by Brett Fudger and Conor Smart

Cal Schell would finish with 16 saves on the night.

The Lakers will travel to Wilkes-Barre on Saturday November 26th to take on the Colonels.
