Lady Pioneers Lose Final Two Regular Season Games

Utica College (9-14-1, 9-5-1 UCHC) – 1
William Smith (17-7-0, 13-2-0) – 2

The Pioneers fell to William Smith 2-1 Saturday afternoon. The Herons opened the scoring 3:55 into the game when Gina Scibetta scored her 16th of the season. They added another only 1:54 later. That goal was scored by Julianna Gong.

Utica got on the board just past the halfway point of the game when Morgan Leib put in an unassisted tally, her fifth goal of the year. Despite sending 17 shots on net in the third period, Utica was unable to get the equalizer.

Senior Bria Reilly made 30 saves in the loss.

#5 Elmira College ( 19-4-2, 14-2-0 UCHC) – 2

Utica wrapped up their UCHC regular season with a 2-0 loss at #5 Elmira on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers outshot Elmira 12-11 in the first period, but it was the hosts who took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Elmira netted goals at 8:56 and 11:24 of the period.

Elmira shut down the Pioneers offense for the final two periods and out shot Utica 31-6 over the final 40 minutes. Sophmore Savannah Gutierrez made 40 saves in the loss.


Utica finished in fourth place in the North Division of the UCHC and will travel back to Elmira this Saturday for a rematch against the Soaring Eagles.
