Amherst (1-0-0, 1-0-0 NESCAC) – 5
Four first period Amherst goals was too much to overcome as the Continentals dropped their first contest of 2019-20 by a score of 5-2.
Amherst came right out of the gate scoring at 1:02, 3:39, and 4:07 to take a quick 3-0 lead before the season was even five minutes old. They would score a short-handed goal at 11:31 o the period to extend their lead to 4-0.
The special teams connected again in the second period when a power-play goal but Amherst ahead 5-0. Sterling Bray scored at 9:31 of the second with an assist going to Josh Labonte to cut the deficit to four goals. Hamilton would get on the board again two minutes later on a Nick Ursitti tally, but the season opening game would end in a loss for the Continentals. Anthony Tirabassi made 30 saves in the loss. Hamilton only managed 18 shots on goal.

Hamilton (1-1-0, 0-1-0 NESCAC) – 2
Sean Storr earned a 23 save shutout to help lead Hamilton to a victory in their home opener Sunday night at historic Sage Rink. Stephen Cochrane scored at 14:43 of the first assisted by Jordi Jefferson and Justin Felhaber giving Hamilton their first lead of the season. The lead was doubled at 8:28 of the third on another Cochrane score. Cade Groton assisted.
Hamilton hosts Wesleyan this Friday (7pm) and Trinity Saturday (3pm) in two NESCAC conference games.
