The https://uscho.com preseason Women’s Division III poll has been released and three schools from the 315 area code are either in the top fifteen or received votes.
The Hamilton College Continentals are leading the pack, ranked fifteenth in the poll. They play in the NESCAC conference, which includes number-one-ranked Middlebury, eighth-ranked Colby, and tenth-ranked Amherst. The Continentals finished the 2021-22 season with an overall record of 12-10-0 to go with an 8-8 NESCAC mark. They made it to the semifinal of the NESCAC postseason tournament before falling to Middlebury. Hamilton College’s 2022-23 regular season begins on November 18th on the road at Amherst.
Colgate Women’s Hockey Continues Their Winning Ways
The Utica University Pioneers did not crack the top fifteen in the poll but did receive twenty votes – which is the most among the teams outside of the top fifteen. The Pioneers play in the UCHC, which is also home to seventh-ranked Nazareth. Utica finished last season with an overall record of 21-6-0 and a UCHC record of 17-3-0 but was upset in the semifinal of the UCHC postseason tournament by Manhattanville. The Pioneers 2022-23 regular season begins on October 28th at Elmira College.
The final Central New York team to receive votes in the USCHO poll was the Oswego State Lakers, who garnered fourteen. The Lakers belong to the NEWHL conference, which also counts third-ranked Plattsburgh and thirteenth-ranked Cortland among its members. The Laker’s overall record for the 2021-22 season was 16-8-1 to go with a NEWHL record of 13-4-1 and was upset in the semifinal of the NEWHL postseason tournament by Cortland. Oswego’s 2022-23 regular season begins on October 22nd at home against Nazareth College.
