There was a matinee hockey game in Central New York as the thirteenth-ranked Hamilton College Continentals Hockey Team (2-1-0 overall, 1-1-0 NESCAC) hosted the Morrisville State Mustangs (1-7-1 overall, 0-5-0 NEWHL). It was the Continentals that would skate away with the victory, as they defeated the Mustangs by a score of 3-1.

Hamilton College opened the scoring at the 9:30 mark of the first period on a goal by Katie Allen and added another just over a minute later when Nina Shaikh lit the lamp for her second goal of the season. The Continentals kept the offensive pressure up, pouring in seventeen shots on goal in the first period alone. They were rewarded with a third goal when Abby Smith beat Morrisville goaltender Emma Plett with just over five minutes left in the period to give the home team a 3-0 lead going into the first intermission.

Morrisville head coach Melissa Lomanto replaced Plett to start the second period with Maggie Jones. Hamilton continued to use their team speed to pressure the visitors, but Jones and the Morrisville defense held them off the scoreboard. Continentals goaltender Cate Gallagher and her teammates answered with their second straight period of shutout hockey and the score remained 3-0 after forty minutes of play.

Hamilton continued to outshoot the Mustangs in the third period but was unable to get the puck past Jones. Morrisville was able to get a goal back with just four minutes remaining when Allie Davidson snapped a shot from the top of the Hamilton zone past a partially screened Gallagher for her fifth goal of the season. With three minutes remaining, the Mustangs had a golden opportunity to pull within a goal when they went on the power play after the Continentals took a roughing penalty. They were unable to capitalize, however, as Hamilton put the clamps down and secured a 3-1 victory.
