All 20 ECHL teams have submitted their opening night rosters prior to the beginning of the regular season. ECHL teams can carry a maximum of 20 players on the active roster. No more han 18 of whom may be skaters. Browsing through the rosters will reveal some familiar names.
Former Utica College defenseman Zachary Borsoi has made the opening night roster for the Adirondack Thunder after completing his career as a Pioneer. The Brossard, Quebec native recorded 18 goals and 45 assists in 110 games with Utica College.
The Thunder open the season against the Maine Mariners Friday night at 7:15. You can catch Borsoi in Glens Falls for the Thunder home opener on October 19th versus the Worcestor Railers.
Clinton native Gregg Burmaster who most recently skated at Utica Comets training camp on a PTO has made the opening night roster of the Norfolk Admirals. After playing two years at Colorado College, Burmaster returned home and suited up for the Pioneers.
He finished his NCAA career with a total of 31 goals and 45 points through 87 games. All but 4 of those points came in his 55 games with the Pioneers. The Admirals open their season at home against the Florida Everblades.
Hamilton College alumni Evan Buitenhuis is entering his second ECHL season with the Worcestor Railers. He appeared in 28 games last season. There is also a number of former Utica Comets players on ECHL rosters including Alex D’Aoust, Colton Saucerman, Cole Cassels, Connor LaCouvee, and of course a number of players on the Kalamazoo Wings.
