Orange captain Jessica DiGirolamo is the College Hockey America Defenseman of the Month for her performance in the first eight games of the season. She scored four points, including two goals and two assists, en route to becoming Syracuse’s career leader for points by a defenseman. Her 80 career points is the new standard for defensemen and ranks 10th on the all-time Syracuse record list. In addition to her scoring, the graduate student blocked 23 shots during the month of October. She earned back-to-back CHA Defenseman of the Week awards in the fourth and fifth weeks of the season.
DiGirolamo holds the Syracuse record for goals by a defenseman and is tied for seventh in Orange history with 35 goals. In the assist column, her 51 career helpers ties for eighth in Syracuse history, and ranks eighth in the CHA record books for assists by a defenseman.
The Orange will play a home-and-home series against RIT on Friday, November 5th in Syracuse and Saturday, November 6th in Rochester.
