Orange defenseman Maya D’Arcy is the College Hockey America Rookie of the Week for her effort in Syracuse’s series against #11 Clarkson. The first-year skater recorded her first collegiate points, tallying an assist in the first game and scoring a goal in the second. She also blocked four shots in the series.
D’Arcy scored her first collegiate goal to open the scoring on Friday at Clarkson. The Cambridge, Ontario native scored on a shot from the blue line that hit the left post and banked in. Juniors Rayla Clemons and Hannah Johnson set up the goal on the Syracuse power play.
She recorded her first collegiate point assisting on a short-handed goal in Thursday’s game in Syracuse. D’Arcy cleared the puck from the Syracuse zone to graduate student Lauren Bellefontaine at mid-ice and then Bellefontaine took the puck up the left side before feeding junior Tatum White, who was streaking down the right side for the shorthanded goal.
The Orange (1-6 overall) will play in the Ice Breaker Tournament in Lake Placid on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22.
