The Crunch traveled to Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Saturday night where they were shutout by Casey DeSmith and the Penguins. DeSmith finished with 35 saves. Spencer Martin stopped 20-of-22 shots for the Crunch.
The Penguins scored 3:53 into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The goal would stand as the game-winning goal. They doubled their lead at the 12:35 mark of the third period. Syracuse had six power-play opportunities, but failed to convert.
