The Comets had their season opening winning streak ended at eight games Friday night. Despite firing 34 pucks on net the Comets fell to the Providence Bruins by a score of 2-0.

The Comets had their chances, including a 5-on-3 power-play early in the third period but failed to score. Mikey Dipietro finished with 23 saves on 25 shots.

Utica Comets (8-2-0-0) – 0

For the second night in a row the Comets failed to muster up any offense. The Americans put up three goals in the first period including a short-handed tally. Zane McIntyre saw his night come to an end after allowing a fourth goal at 4:07 of the second. He finished with 13 saves. DiPietro stopped 14 of 16 in relief.

The Comets look to get back on track Wednesday night when they travel to Binghamton to take on the Devils. The Comets are 3-0 versus the Devils this season.
