Comets Premier Team Routs PAL Junior Islanders

The 3-3-0 Utica Premier team crushed the struggling PAL Junior Islanders (0-8-0) Wednesday afternoon in New Jersey. The Comets jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.

Anthony Morin (Saratoga, NY) scored his second of the young season 9:41 into the opening frame with assists coming form J.D. Speer (Hamilton, NY) and Jeff Ransom. Just 90 seconds later Joshuwa Kalinowski (Buffalo, NY) scored an unassisted goal doubling the lead to 2-0. Coby Smith (Baltimore, MD) capped off the first period scoring only 27 seconds later with his fourth of the season. Zack Quinton (Pittsford, NY) and Andrew Manley (Whitesboro, NY) picked up assists.

The second period was once again dominated by the Comets. Kalinowski scored his second of the game at the 4:52 assisted by Nicholas Purdy (Baldwinsville, NY) and Nick Castillo (Chicago, Il).

Alex Liebel (Dartmouth, NH) added the fifth Comets goal at 8:28 with Smith and Kalinowski picking up assists. PAL broke the shutout bid of Henry Bradford (Arlington, TX) midway through the period cutting the Comets lead to 5-1. Andrew Martino (Utica, NY) answered back a minute and a half later. Brennan Ash (Copenhagen, NY) and Adam Brzezicki (Gurnee, Il) each picked up their third assist the season on the goal. At 17:02 of the period Speer added his third goal of the season assisted by Morin and Kalinowski.

The game was called with 47.3 seconds left in the second. As of the time of publishing there was no information available as to why. Bradford finished with 17 saves for Utica.
