Colgate (0-2-0) – 1
Ferris State (1-0-0) – 3
Matt Verboon scored his first career goal, but the Raiders couldn’t hang on for the win. Three straight Bulldogs helped lead them to the 3-1 win over Colgate. Verboon scored at 6:44 of the first period, 14 seconds after a Ferris State penalty expired. Verboon picked up a loose puck near the top of the circle, skated into the slot, and let a wrist shot fly for the score.

The Bulldogs tied it up on a deflection while on the man-advantage with just over 5 minutes to play in the period. Two more third period goals sealed the victory for the home team. Colgate out-shot the Bulldogs 29-23. Mitch Benson finished with 20 saves for the Raiders.
Head coach Don Vaughan had this to say about his team:
“It’s very frustrating, we worked hard again, and we generated a little more chaos at the net tonight with two posts. Our power play has to produce. We’re not in sync right now. It is early, but if you go 0-for-6 [on the power play] it’s the difference in the game, same as the other night. We’ve got to remedy it, and find a way whether it’s different personnel or structures. We had some good looks, but we need to find a way to score.”

#10 Boston College (2-0-0) – 3
Colgate (0-3-0) – 0
Despite out-shooting the Eagles 39-26, the Raiders couldn’t find a way to beat the Boston College netminder who finished with a 39 save shutout. Benson was in goal for the Raiders again. BC scored one goal each period en route to their 3-0 victory.
Colgate will be without Liam Watson-Brawn for their next game after he received a major plus game disqualification for contact to the head with only 25 seconds left in the game.
Colgate will look for their first win of the season this weekend in a series at UMass Lowell.
