Looking for something to do Sunday night after your stop by the Clinton Arena to see the Stanley Cup? The National Women’s Hockey League is holding a preseason game at the Class of 1965 Arena at Colgate University. The game is between the Connecticut Whale and the Buffalo Beauts.
New Hartford, NY native and Colgate University graduate Annika Zalewski was chosen 14th overall in the 2017 NWHL draft by the Buffalo Beauts. She will be making her professional debut after signing a contract over the summer.
Zalewski played two years for the New Hartford High School team before attending the Nichols School in Buffalo, NY. She played a total of 131 games with Colgate amassing 38 goals and 46 assists while acting as captain for her last two seasons. Colgate played in the NCAA Women’s National Championship game last season where they lost to defending champions Clarkson University.
Zalewski will be trying her best to score her first NWHL point against another 315 Hockey player. Sam Walther spent the last 4 seasons in Clinton playing for Hamilton College. Walther set Hamilton College records for save percentage (.960), goals against average (1.08) and shutouts (10) during her 2017-18 senior season.
Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00pm and tickets can be purchased online.
