HAMILTON — Colgate men’s hockey will head to Allentown, Pa., Friday to take on No. 1-seeded Michigan in the NCAA Regionals at 8:30 p.m. at the PPL Center. The game will air live on ESPNU.
The Raiders are coming off their second-ever ECAC Hockey Championship and their first in 33 years after defeating Harvard 3-2 in the conference championship this past Saturday. Colgate was the fifth seed in the tournament and defeated No. 1 seed Quinnipiac the previous night to advance to the title game.
Currently holding a 19-15-5 record, the Raiders also finished ECAC Hockey play with an 11-8-3 mark. Colgate is making its sixth-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its first since 2014 when it lost to Ferris State in the Regional Semifinals.
Michigan is the fourth-ranked team in the country, holding a 24-11-3 overall record and a 12-10-2 mark in Big Ten play. The Wolverines are making their third-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big Ten tournament for the second-consecutive year.
The two teams have only faced off six times in history, including one NCAA Tournament matchup in 2000, which Michigan won.The Raiders have defeated the Wolverines once, which came during the 1997-98 season by a score of 2-1.
