Biederman and Gates Grab Weekly Honors – Colgate University Athletics

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Colgate women’s ice hockey forward Elyssa Biederman and defenseman Tanner Gates received ECAC Hockey weekly honors, the conference announced Tuesday morning. 

Biederman was selected as Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The freshman forward recorded her first career hat trick in last Friday’s 5-2 win over Brown. 

The Franklin, Mich. native had a breakout weekend, recording five points through two games. Biederman has collected six goals and five assists for 11 points this season, good for seventh on the team in points. 

After her three-point performance in two games, Gates was selected as Defender of the Week, her first weekly honor of the season. 

The Oceanside, Calif. native has been a staple on the blue line, playing heavy minutes throughout the season. Gates has recorded three goals and seven assists for 10 points this season. 

The Raiders hold an overall record of 15-2-1 as they head into the new year. Head Coach Greg Fargo‘s squad will take the remainder of December off as they gear up for the second half of the season. Colgate returns to the ice on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 against RPI and Union.
