The fifth-ranked Hamilton College Continentals Women’s Hockey Team hosts the seventh-ranked Middlebury Panthers at Sage Rink in Clinton for a two-game series to close the regular season for both teams. The bitter NESCAC rivals are separated by four and a half points in the conference standings as the Continentals are in second place with 32.5 points and the Panthers have 28. Hamilton is two and a half points behind first-place Amherst.
The history between the teams runs beyond the limits of the ice surface. Behind the Middlebury bench is Head Coach Bill Mandigo, who has held that post at the school since 1988. In his time with the Panthers, he has won four NCAA Championships and has 625 career wins – the most of any women’s hockey coach in any NCAA division.

The Head Coach of the Continentals is one of his former star players and assistant coaches Emily McNamara. McNamara was a standout on the ice for Middlebury from 2003-2007, and after graduation became an assistant coach for Mandigo for four seasons. From Middlebury, McNamara become the bench boss at Hamilton and built a 101-79-21 record entering this season.
This series is crucial to both teams for NESCAC standings and national polling. Let’s take a look at how the Hamilton College Continentals and Middlebury Panthers match up against each other.
